2024 SXSW Music

Whether you want Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Rap, Country, Blues, Electronic, Folk, or anything in between, the 2024 South by Southwest musical lineup will have something for you. From March 8-16, Austin, TX will be drawing in musicians and artists from around the world to perform at SXSW in what promises to be a uniquely memorable event.

Along with the musicians, you can expect to find some truly exciting Film and Television premieres, engaging conferences, and as always, delicious food and drinks. Previous year’s premieres and screenings at SXSW have included films like Bottoms, Hypnotic, and John Wick: Chapter 4, while this year looks to offer some names just as big to go along with usual indie fare. The conferences are also going to be a highlight, as AI, Augmented Reality, and Sports Betting are among the two dozen topics to be discussed.

But the live performances are the beating heart of the festival. There is nothing quite akin to the visceral connection between a live performer and their audience. With the Paramount Theater offering the largest venue of the week, you can expect no crowd to be larger than 1100 people. The intimate venues across downtown Austin will be ideal for catching many acts that would usually sell out larger arenas. While many artists have not released their schedule of performances, there are likely to be more shows than any one person can watch.

Of the big names coming to this year’s SXSW, you can expect to catch The Black Keys, STRFKR, Kneecap, and dozens of other performers. Along with the usual domestic options, like Texas’ own Giovannie & The Hired Guns, there will be an eclectic array of foreign options, such as Rawayana from Venezuela, Waterbaby from Stockholm, and Chiaki Mayumura from Japan. The full list, subject to change, can be found on the SXSW website.

As most know, the music of SXSW is one of the week’s biggest draws. Without taking away from the film screenings and conferences, it is hard to pass up the part of this event where such unique and vastly different artists will be performing at all hours of the day. While most music festivals resign themselves to a single genre or country, SXSW goes out of its way to craft one of the most unique musical opportunities available. Given the absurd number of options, it would be wise to start scheduling your week at SXSW right now.
