It was an exciting Opening Night at Universal Studios Hollywood, for Halloween Horror Nights, as Hollywood celebrities paraded along the red carpet to celebrate Southern California’s most extreme Halloween event , and to talk to many of the media that were there to learn more about what the new Halloween season at Universal Studios  has in store for them ! In this news segment you can see a few of the interviews that our news team did for Entertainment Today TV , and this website version of our TV show.

Celebrity guests that walked down the red carpet for interviews included Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), Israel Broussard (Happy Death Day), Tobin Bell (SAW franchise), Leigh Whannell (Insidious, SAW), Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Happy Death Day, Insidious, Get Out), Frank Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: Election Year); Matthew Passmore (JIGSAW), Jennifer Tilly (Child’s Play), Tom Payne (“The Walking Dead”), Emily Kinney (“The Walking Dead”), Jabbawockeez, Slash (Musician), Christian Navarro (“13 Reasons Why”), David Arquette (Scream), Vanessa Hudgens (“Powerless”), Guillermo Diaz (“Scandal”), Jaime Camil (“Jane the Virgin”), Jordan Clarkson (LA Lakers, NBA Player), Lisa Edelstein (“Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce), and John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood and Executive Producer of “Halloween Horror Nights,” among others.

This popular event with millions of fans over the years features a new slate of unrivaled film and television production quality mazes, frightful scare zones and a re-imagined “Terror Tram” experience – all uniquely themed to today’s most definitive horror properties.

Touting more mazes than ever, this year’s Halloween Horror Nights” lineup includes: The Shining, inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s psychological thriller; “American Horror Story: Roanoke,” based on FX’s critically-acclaimed, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning television series; “The Horrors of Blumhouse,” featuring iconic and unnerving moments from The Purge franchise, Sinister movies and upcoming Happy Death Day, inspired by prolific filmmaker Jason Blum’s blockbuster films; “Insidious: Beyond the Further,” based on Universal Pictures and Sony Picture’s upcoming supernatural thriller Insidious franchise including, Insidious: The Last Key; “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” based on Starz’s comedy horror television series; “SAW: The Games of Jigsaw,” inspired by the SAW film series and the upcoming series installment, JIGSAW; “Titans of Terror,” which unites slasher film villains, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface; and “The Walking Dead” attraction inspired by AMC’s record-breaking television series. . . .

We urge you to see the post-apocalyptic world of AMC’s “The Walking Dead”. Prepare to fight for survival in a fully immersive journey as you navigate through a world overrun by hungry walkers. Follow in the footsteps of the human survivors as you battle your way through nightmarish iconic landscapes that bring the most popular cable TV show in history to life!

The Shining was our favorite maze, based on the iconic movie. The Shining is a 1980 horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on the book with the same title. Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) arrives at the Overlook Hotel to interview for the open position of winter caretaker. Room 237 is recreated in the maze, along with the writing of “REDRUM” in lipstick on the door, which is “MURDER” spelled backwards as seen from a mirror, and that famous scene when Jack starts chopping down the bathroom door with an axe and leers through the hole he has made, yelling the iconic “Here’s Johnny!” line, but retreats after Wendy slashes his hand with a butcher knife, and then slowly freezes to death in the hedge maze. In the maze are photos from the final scene, where the camera slowly zooms in on an old photograph taken at the hotel on July 4, 1921. A smiling Jack Torrance is at the front of the crowd of revelers, in which it is revealed in a documentary that it is an old incarnation of Jack. This is a must see maze to experience !

SAW: The Games of Jigsaw, was also another chilling experience for us – since it makes you feel like you are in the movie.

Make sure you make time to see the all-new “Titans of Terror Tram: Hosted by Chucky”, that ratchets up the scares, transporting guests into a nightmare of carnage on the world-famous studio backlot, pitting guests against Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface and the infamous serial killer doll, Chucky (Child’s Play franchise). With his faithful army of degenerate chainsaw-wielding Good Guy Dolls, Chucky will unleash havoc upon guests as they navigate a portion of the world-famous backlot. . . . . .

This is the only time of the year that you can get off the tram and walk around to experience the thrills of having these Halloween iconic characters come right up at you , and have some of them attack you with chainsaws (Don’t worry it’s just skilled actors who will never touch you )!

You will get to walk around the actual plane crash sight from “War of The Worlds” that starred Tom Cruise , and the site of The “Bates Motel” used in the movie Psycho, a 1960 Horror Movie classic film that was directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock, and starred Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh. The film centers on the encounter between a secretary, Marion Crane (Leigh), who ends up at a secluded motel after stealing money from her employer, and the motel’s disturbed owner-manager, Norman Bates (Perkins). You can now relive these movies with a new updated Halloween theme , that only Universal Studios can do ! This Terror Tram experience , along with the other attractions are very popular with people , so expect to have a long wait on line. Therefore, we would suggest that you purchase the “Front of Line” pass , so that you go straight to the front ! So make the most of your visit by purchasing an After 2PM Day/Night Combo with Front of Line to enjoy access to all daytime attractions including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, the world-famous Studio Tour featuring Fast & Furious – Supercharged, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and more!

As the same big hit stage show in Las Vegas : The Jabbawockeez award-winning hip hop dance crew also returns by popular demand:

Besides the mazes and scare zones, there are all the other rides and attractions to experience. Try to also get there during the daytime since Universal Studios Hollywood delivers highly themed immersive lands that translate to real-life interpretations of iconic movie and television shows. Recent additions include “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter ™” which features a bustling Hogsmeade village and such critically-acclaimed rides as “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” and “Flight of the Hippogriff™,” Universal Studios Hollywood’s first outdoor roller coaster. Other immersive lands include “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land” as well as “Springfield,” hometown of America’s favorite TV family, located adjacent to the award-winning “The Simpsons Ride TM” and the “The Walking Dead” daytime attraction.
