Lea Awards for SoCal WICT Network by Nina Ameri

Attending the 28th annual Leadership Excellence Awards luncheon for the Southern Californian chapter of The WICT (Women in Cable Television) Network was a charming and enchanting experience. This is the first time the ceremony has been held live since the pandemic, and it has once again returned to the Beverly Hills Hotel. The afternoon brought together an exciting ensemble of women who excel as executives and leaders in the media and entertainment industry.

The WICT Network is a fantastic organization comprised of more than 10,000 professionals whose aim is to help develop connections and share resources. They offer mentorship, career management, and all manner of assistance to the members who need it.

The evening, hosted by the delightful Nischelle Turner from Entertainment Tonight, was an all-around lovely celebration of female success. The honorees of this year’s LEA awards were Kia Painter (Cox Communicaton), Wendy McMahon (CBS News & Stations), Beatrice Springborn(UPC and Universal International Studios), and Tara Duncan (Onyx Collective). These four women have been instrumental in shaping their respective organizations, each of which is a leader in the entertainment and media sphere.

Being privileged to attend this event and hear from these inspirational women is something not to be taken for granted. The representation of women in the industry has grown over the years, but it can only continue to grow and remain as strong as it is if women keep propping each other up and helping each other up like The WICT Network sets out to do. Next year’s honorees are already out there working hard and leading by example. See you at the ceremony in 2024.
