"THE WORK" Movie Premiere AT THE DTLA FILM FESTIVAL

Last night at The Downtown Film Festival (DTLA) I had the opportunity to see a very emotional, and moving story of redemption and renewal unfolds in The Work, a remarkable vérité film that follows a group of outsiders into California’s Folsom Prison to join inmates in an intense four-day therapy session intended to help prepare them to succeed back outside prison. THIS IS ONE OF THE YEAR’S MOST ACCLAIMED DOCUMENTARY FEATURE FILMS, that starts out as a real heartbreaker , but then when you see how people can go inside of themselves , to their inner most part of their heart and soles, to learn what is hurting them and holding them back to be a better person and make a better life for themselves, to learn what demons are still inside of themselves, and who in their past has betrayed them, this film then becomes very uplifting and motivational , and will give you something to take away – to help you out in YOUR LIFE ! This premiere was held at The Regal Cinemas at LA Live. The Downtown Film Festival runs till the end of this month. This Film OPENS in LOS ANGELES on OCT 25, and in NEW YORK on OCT 27 – AND OTHER CITIES TO FOLLOW – DON’T MISS THIS FILM!unnamed.jpg

Set inside a single room in Folsom PrisonThe Work follows three men from outside as they participate in a four-day group therapy retreat with level-four convicts. Over the four days, each man in the room takes his turn at delving deep into his past. The raw and revealing process that the incarcerated men undertake exceeds the expectations of the free men, ripping them out of their comfort zones and forcing them to see themselves and the prisoners in unexpected ways. The Work offers a powerful and rare look past the cinder block walls, steel doors and the dehumanizing tropes in our culture to reveal a movement of change and redemption that transcends what we think of as rehabilitation.

The Work showcases the unique approach of the non-profit Inside Circle, which helps prisoners and parolees heal from the inside. According to the organization, The Inside Circle Foundation focuses on reducing prison violence, lowering recidivism, and guiding inmates through healing that allows for meaningful lives after release.  Audiences and critics have been blown away by this gripping film!  The FILMMAKERS are :  Jairus Mcleary, Eon McLeary, and Miles  McLeary, and stars :  Manny Ruiz, Eldra Jackson (Vegas), Andrew Molino (Dark Cloud), James McLeary, and Raymond Dominguez.  Runtime: 88 minutes  THE_WORK_OUTSIDE_INMATES_WALK.jpg
